Can TTF bands be shot OTT

At SimpleShot, all our bands come tied in the TTF (Through the Forks) orientation, meaning the pouch is folded twice, not once. Sometimes we get questions about using TTF bands in an OTT (Over the Top) configuration, especially since some folks on YouTube and forums suggest there’s a difference.

Here’s the deal: there’s absolutely no effect on your shooting if you use a "TTF" band in an OTT setup. Any slight difference in the band is barely noticeable at draw, and it doesn’t affect accuracy in the slightest.

That being said, if you really want to have your bands tied OTT, go for it! We totally get that personal preference plays a huge role in slingshot shooting, which is why we offer a wide variety of band-tying materials for you to tweak and make it just right for you. As we always say: do what works best for YOU! If tying them OTT makes you feel more comfortable, then that’s what matters most.

By the way, ATO Mark recently posted a detailed independent test on this topic. It wasn’t something we asked for, and he wasn’t even using SimpleShot latex or slingshots, but we agree with his findings! Check it out for a deeper dive.
